Wonder Trail in the Ashland Watershed 10-26-20

Photos by Linda

Nine  of us gathered at the top of Lithia Park for a hike up the new Wonder Trail. It was clear and cold with temps just over freezing at the beginning of our trek.  We took the steps down to the path which follows Ashland Creek before starting the 1,400' climb up to the end of the trail where it meets Fell-on-Knee trail at 3,500'.

The new Wonder Trail was carefully made by volunteers who made a gentle ascent up into the local Siskiyous. After 2.9 miles the new trail hands off to the original Wonder Trail coming up from FS 2060 (aka Ashland Loop Road). The 1.4 climb up the old trail delivers the group to our rest stop and a clear view of Mt Ashland.

After water, snacks and a brief rest it was time to descend back to our cars in Lithia. 8.6 miles RT and an enjoyable and convenient  hike.

Five of us had lunch outside by the creek at Louie's post hike.

Next Monday we'll finally get to hike the PCT in California, as we do Kangaroo Lake to Bull Lake. Eight miles RT.

Happy Trails
