Today was our pre-Thanksgiving hike and luncheon. Eighteen (18) Friday hikers enjoyed the day: A crispy chilly sunny morning hiking in the Ashland Watershed (Liberty Street to Lower Red Queen) and finishing with a Thanksgiving luncheon.
Our hike plan called for walking part of the Waterline and the Red Queen in and out, taking in the fire ecology interpretive section. With plenty of energy and enthusiasm as we reached the last interpretive sign, we extended our hike to include a loop up along Bandersnatch, Gryphon and JubJub to make it a “lollypop” trek back to Lower Red Queen and Waterline, on to Elisabeth’s home. In all, about 4.5 miles RT with a good bit of climbing through switchbacks.
At lunch, we had lots of good conversation with mulling spiced cider, turkey/cranberry and ham/cheese sandwiches, zucchini dish, pumpkin pie and cream cheese pie, and cookies. Elisabeth led; Judy was sweep; Daniel our photographer.
