Ashland Hiking Home

Led by Richard, seven hikers departed Rite Aid by 8:37 am to enjoy one of our favorite journeys into the Ashland watershed. It was a sunny day with a comfortable 65°.  Although most of the trail was shaded, the view opportunities were outstanding. We hiked up to the saddle and took a short break for a wooded ‘bathroom’ break and hydration. We proceeded up Caterpillar to the Gyre-Gimble-Lewis Point intersections.  We took the right-side loop trails arriving at the Lewis Point picnic table for snacks/lunch and conversation. On the way back, we took the other side of the Gimble Loop Trail.  When we arrived at the fork for the Gyre trail, we took a vote and the majority preferred to go back the way we came for an easier return with less climbing. We arrived back at Rite Aid just before 1 PM.
