Wow! 25 Friday Mods met on a chilly, foggy morning at the Lower Red Queen trailhead (intersection of Terrace St. and Ashland Loop Road). And we were off up the Lower Red Queen Trail.
Another hiker took our group photo at the intersection with Bandersnatch. Then we climbed steadily up the Red Queen trail. We passed sugar pines, false turkey tail fungus on a dead stump, and joint-toothed mosses on Douglas firs. Everyone was keen to keep hiking up the Red Queen trail that ended at the intersection with Jabberwocky and the forest service road.
After a brief snack we looped down the road and then the Alice in Wonderland trail. Next we hiked Gryphon to Bandersnatch and then down Lower Red Queen to the trailhead. No bikers were out in the fog, but all of us Friday Mods were.
