Sixteen hikers met at the Wonder Trail TH for the climb up into the watershed, tackling the multiple switchbacks to reach the upper splendid and favorite trek through the woods with occasional views between the trees out over the valley. We enjoyed lovely weather with mostly blue sky for the journey to the ‘garden’ of boulders gracing the hillsides from every direction. We stopped there for early lunch and chocolates, and much conversation, before completing the trail hike beyond the intersection with “Fell on Knee.” We looped down to follow the forest road 2060 back to our cars. The weather forecast proved accurate. Rain began in earnest for our hike down the road. As in other hikes on this road when the climate has been wet, we spotted many ground-cones on the road side.  Our hike amounted to about 4.6 miles RT, with an elevation gain of about 1,000’.
