It was a perfect summer day for blooming flowers and the butterflies who visited them.  Eight of us met Steve at his property off DIM and immediately started to ID flowers while Ron and Eva captured myriad butterflies for us to view up close and personal.

Flowers and flowering shrubs included bleeding hearts, twin berry, Washington lily, Spirea, Oregon geranium, Sticky and Fanleaf cinquefoil, Snowberry, and Meadow rose among others.  The most stunning were the blue carpets of Bach's downing/Calico flower and the waves of rosy fuzziness of hundreds of Prairie smoke seed heads.

The beauty was enhanced by Eva's introduction to us of Western white Butterly, Bouts Duval Butterly that lays eggs only on Bleeding heart, Clodius Parnassian, Anna's Blue, Liquid's Adminerable, Western Sulfur, Hoary Comma and Common Wood Nymph.

Afterward the walk we ate lunch and admired the view of the disappearing lake with Mt McCloughlin.  What a day!
