PCT to Pilot Rock Wildflower Walk Report 5-6-20

Well, we didn't exactly walk very far -- about 2.2 miles total RT, but boy, did we find flowers!  (Someone will have to calculate the number of species per foot at some point.)  Barry, Darryl, Sunny, Rich, Patricia and I had a wonderful time poking and crouching and exclaiming and arguing.... it was wonderful. Sunny would continually brave thick brush to capture the perfect Trillium shot).  We more or less kept six feet apart.

As the spring season progresses, we do lose favorites like the Grass widows and Shooting stars, but Fawn lillys are still carpeting the ground with lots of both species of trilliums (Western and Wake Robin), and joy of joys, Checker Lillys (aka Mission bells) !! We also added ten more species to the full list, included here:

BTW - If you begin your hikes to Pilot Rock from the upper parking areas you miss all this.
