What a banner day to be walking the Mt. Ashland Flower Bowl! Ten of us, including 3 new people joined the fun this sunny but cool day. Any slope with water was covered in blooms. Of note: Many more tiger lilies and Oregon checkermallows than past years. We had lots of fun figuring out "stumpers" and disputing the always-ambiguous white umbels.
We ID'd 20 blooms just at the trailhead, and kept going all the way out to the Tower delphiniums for a total of 55 - a new one-day record, pretty sure. If you are interested in a list, contact me.
Oh, and Rich counted 16 PCT hikers and when wasn't busy recording flowers tried to talk with all of them....
