The weather gods were very kind to us as we ventured out to Emmigrant Lake on Friday. Parking at the main dam parking lot, we crossed the dam and took the left path towards the lake. Along the grassy knoll slope, we were rewarded with lots of wildflowers -- with plenty sneaky ones to keep us all busy as you can see by Kay's great photos. We ended up for a short chocolate and birding break at the cemetery before heading back to the cars just ahead of the rain showers.
The birders in the group were very excited to spot four squabbling Bullock’s orioles along with rock wrens, yellow warblers, oak titmouses.
