Pederson Nordic Trail 1-24-18

Today we confirmed that being in snow is much better than rain.  Five of us started out under rainy conditions in Ashland and drove up to Pederson Nordic trail on DIM.  By then the temperature had dropped from 43 to 34 degrees and it was snowing (YEA!).

After some discussion, 4 of us decided to walk (no snowshoes) and one decided to wear his snowshoes.  The scenery was clearly beautiful and we were walking in 2 to 4 inches of snow, so we made good time to the shelter.  Once there, it was decided that we would complete the loop and head back to Ashland for a late lunch.

The hike back varied from 3 to 10 inches of snow, so at times we wondered if the snowshoes might make it easier, but given that the hike was around 5 miles total, all made it back with good memories of being on a wonder winterland hike.  Lunch was enjoyed at Caldera Brewing.
