PCT / Pederson Nordic Trail North from DIM 1-8-17

Four brave souls took off for a snowshoe hike, despite an awful weather forecast.  It was raining in Ashland, but it ended up snowing at our starting point, which was the plan [hope --Ed.].  We climbed over the road snow berm in search of the trail, which was found after a few minutes of hiking in the forest.

Although high winds were forecast, they tended to stay high in the trees above, so our only challenge was that it was snowing.  Lunch was taken at the shelter, which had bench seating and protection from the snow storm outside.  After a short, but nice lunch, we headed back to the car.

It turned out that the biggest challenge was driving home, with frequent white-outs along the way.  Dan did a great job in getting us back to Ashland for refreshments at Caldera.  All of us had a great time and were home by 2 PM.
