Moon Prairie 2-27-19

Photos by Dan, Liz and Nanci

Today Dan, Michael, Nanci, Liz, Barry H, and I decided to brave the elements and take a gamble on the weather forecast on our snowshoe at Moon Prairie. We started out with light to no wind and made our way through fresh fallen very wet snow. At times we had some blue sky and the sun peaked out at us.

Everyone was a trooper and very willing to take their turn at breaking trail. Barry said the heavy wet snow was even harder trail breaking than the week before. When we took our lunch break we took a consensus and decided to continue the loop around instead of going back the way he had gone.

After going along, it started to rain, then it started snowing. Making our way back around, we had a couple of slight course adjustments to make, but made our way back on the loop. When we closed the loop, we noticed it had been snowing enough to start covering our tracks.

We made a fast return to the car. Since I am such a slow driver and am not fond of driving in winter conditions, I took it slow but decided to forgo beverages and fried food with the group at Caldera and headed back home.
