Moon Prairie 12-28-16

We left Ashland in the fog and climbed up into bright sunshine under a cloudless sky. Temps were in the 30s but at least one snowshoer managed to exhibit quite a glow while breaking trail uphill.

Surprisingly, the first mile down on Moon Prairie Road had recently been plowed leaving a solid, mostly icy route. Once we left the road we were in 4" to 8" of soft snow with a crispy top in places. We had a quick lunch at Alex Junction before heading down and back out to the road. Once at the road we took our snowshoes off for the final mile back to the car.

On the drive back Gary's SUV was hit on the driver's side by a fusillade of rocks, sand, ice and snow thrown by an ODOT plow heading in the opposite direction. It may take some time to sort this out with ODOT. Good luck Gary.

Refreshments were taken at Brickroom.
