Moon Prairie Snowshoe 2-10-23

Eager for more snowshoeing, eight of us went to Moon Prairie for a RT trek of about 4 miles with 160’ elevation gain.  We went up the main trail across the cattle crossing and then left at the intersection on up into our favorite place amidst the trees where we can perch on boulders and stumps for lunch.

As always, we enjoyed the conversations amongst friends and especially hearing about Kay’s trip to Ecuador. The weather held for us to enjoy with little wind and the opportunity to see Mt. McLoughlin rising above the valley. The downside was the thinning snow cover, making it necessary to walk across many muddy, rocky patches or, in some spots, break a little trail up and round them. We all enjoyed our day in spite of a sub-optimal snow condition.
