Lake of the Woods Snowshoe 2-13-13

We had a brutally sunny snowshoe today at Lake of the Woods. Temperature at the TH upon arrival was about 30 F but it quickly warmed up to the mid 40s.

The great meadow has been essentially groomed by snowmobiles crisscrossing back and forth in all directions so we had to break trail only occasionally. On the outbound we elected to avoid a direct lake crossing and instead took the trail that parallels Highway 140. We had lunch lakeside on a log at Camp McLoughlin and then headed back more directly across the lake carefully following Keeley and Ron breaking trail in 4" to 6" of soft snow.

Rehydration was successfully accomplished at 4 Daughters.
