PCT to Little Hyatt Lake Snowshoe 1-23-17

We lucked into a beautiful day for 10 Monday hikers to break new trail down to Little Hyatt Lake. Dianne Keller had her GPS and we bushwhacked most of the way as the trail location was a mystery. The sun and snow were brilliant. We had lunch on the Bridge at Little Hyatt and then headed back. The trail was now a bit of a freeway after 10 hikers had passed by but we did a slightly different route at the start and the first half mile had some vertical.

The highlight was a somewhat disturbed cabin dweller screaming at us to get off his private property in the meadow by the Lake. There were no private property signs and he seemed to be off his meds. He threatened to call the constabulary but probably backed off due to his probable meth operation. Just as well as Betty's Canadian blood was up and she would have given him a good thrashing.

Note that 2 were missing from the group picture but I caught them with my camera making their getaway. Apparently there was an undergarment sale at Walmart that expired at 4 PM. The rest of us had a relaxing pint or whatever substitute at Caldera. A refreshing day in God's Country.
