Ten of us enjoyed a lovely sunny day on snowshoes or YakTraks, meandering along the east side of Hyatt Lake. The road was thinly covered with groomed snow, but quite adequate for our purposes and a graceful ski skater who glides past at an impressive speed.
We’d hiked 6 miles by the time we returned, after reaching the end of Hyatt Lake and having lunch in the woods overlooking the Lake.
A highlight was spotting two Golden Eagles in a tall evergreen tree, thanks to Carol and Kate, avid birders. Although at a distance, the crisp blue ski allowed us to see them both.
The wide ‘trail’ (road) allowed for pods of enjoyable conversations along the way.
