Rabbit Ears -Friday Moderate Group 2-18-22

Photos by Kay

We had a marvelous day, in spite of skimpy snow. Nine of us snowshoed (one in Yaktraks) along the road beyond the ski center and on up the hill to the open area at the base of Rabbit Ears. Kate, Jackie, Mabrie started climbing up Rabbit Ears, and Kate made it to the top.

Beautiful views with a crystal blue sky. The stones arranged in a semicircle felt like a little Mt. Ashland coliseum, perfect for sitting for lunch and listening to 3 short poems by African American writers, one of whom was featured on a 2022 calendar created by Mabrie featuring women writers.

It was a leisurely day, generally quite warm and very little wind. We welcomed our new participant, Janet, and enjoyed lots of good conversation.  Our journey amounted to almost 4 miles RT.
