Crater Lake 4-3-17

Photos by Bob and Gladys

To quote Gladys Sanson, "It was a magnificent day." And it was. The weather was perfect. We hiked 4 miles, along the rim and back. Our lunch spot was perfection. We stopped a few times to take pictures of the crater. On our return we walked over to the lodge and climbed over enormous piles of snow to the rim. Nine of us returned very happy with the day.

Some notes: To paraphrase Hillary Clinton, it takes a village to put on Rich's snowshoes. Fortunately Mike Sanson, master of snowshoes, got it done after practicing with his spouse's equipment. The patience of Job. Mike also scaled a massive hill on the way in his usual gung ho fashion.

We met some Australian tourists from Brisbane who advised us to go nowhere near the magnificent beaches on the north coast  of Australia due to sea crocks. I promised I would avoid such encounters. Also the rivers due to fresh water crocks. I said I would stick to my hot tub and even then have a good look first. In reality I wouldn't risk my rubber ducky in Brisbane.

We headed home and stopped by Caldera for refreshments. Gladys did a tasting of 6 beers and made comments which we carefully noted. I was obliged to down a second Amber while waiting for the test results.
