Crater Lake Snowshoe 3-12-14

We had a spectacular day snowshoeing northwest from the Visitor Center along the rim towards Watchman. Not a cloud in the sky and the lake was its usual unbelievable blue and we had vistas from Shasta to Thielsen.

Temperatures climbed from the mid-30s to the mid-40s and the uphills added to our feeling of warmth. Surprisingly, we had first tracks in the new snow from Sunday and Monday. Typically, we had 6" to 18" of soft snow so we appreciated the trail breaking work of Keeley, Hank and Jim.

We went up through Ft. Klamath and returned via Medford where we stopped at Four Daughters for a refreshing selection of appetizers and beverages.
