Bull Gap Loop 1-9-19

Photos by Barry M, Dan and Keeley - Video by Barry M

Nine of us headed up towards Mt. Ashland to snowshoe a loop trail in the Bull Gap area.  It was a great first snowshoe of the season, less than 4 miles and relatively easy, finishing in time to make it to Ashland for lunch.

After a few minor issues getting started, we headed down the trail.  I was grateful that it never rained on us, but it did snow on us several times.  However, it generally was above freezing, thus it was a wet hike.

After a half mile on the trail we turned right to start the loop part of our adventure, heading into the forest on a single track type trail.  The snow at this point was between 1 to 10 inches deep and at times very heavy to be trail breaking.  However everyone helped break trail until we finally found where someone else had cleared a ski trail, roughly about 75 percent into the loop.  We did find a friendly snowman who joined us for the group photo.

Some of us headed to Standing Stone Brewery for lunch, which was excellent.  Their menu has improved since some of us have dined there in the past.
