We did this snowshoe 6 years ago and all were glad that it has been resurrected. The forecast was for snow and some wind, so snowshoeing was going to be an adventure. We started in 28oF degree weather and excellent snow conditions. Someone had broken trail several days before our arrival, so we were only breaking trail in about 2 inches of snow for the first 1/2 of the trip.
The scenery was a winter wonderland and the trails were well marked. Just before lunch, we lost our “trail breaking” advantage and had to do it all on our own, with a good 14 inches of new snow. Lunch was taken on a log that required some serious snow removal to find a place to sit. We then headed back to cars on this loop trip, down through the forest, following the blue diamond markers as best we could.
Refreshments were taken at Caldera Brewing Company and all seemed pleased with the hike.
