Upper Rogue - Peyton Bridge North 3-22-13

The weather was unexpectedly cool, and flurries of fine dry snow came and went during the whole hike. Fortunately, the authorities turned off the snow and gave us sunny weather for lunch.

We made a steep uphill detour around a downed Douglas Fir, except for Ron, who managed to power his way thru it. Otherwise the trail was clear aside from one step-over Madrone.

Post-hike refreshments were at the Rogue River Lodge, but it was too cold to sit outside. The traditionalists ordered the four basic food groups recommended by the Stubblefield diet: beer, carbohydrates, salt and grease. However, an order of breaded string beans plus liberal helpings of ketchup ensured that we had a well-rounded meal.
