Upper Rogue - River Bridge to Takelma Gorge 7-25-16

The hike was changed from Union Creek to avoid deadfall and shorten the hike on a hot day. We left early to beat the heat and the hike is in the shade so even on the way back it was very comfortable. The gorge is quite a sight.

On the way home we stopped at an ice cream outlet in Shady Cove and I ordered a large cone which turned out to have 3 gigantic scoops. Everyone laughed at my unsuccessful attempt to down the ice cream without soiling the clothes. By this time the heat had ramped up and we were glad to be off the trail.

We arrived at Safeway to find tow away signs so we need a new place to park. (For future reference there are toilets in the campground just before the trail head). The 8 hikers had a great time and it included two interesting new hikers, Roseanne and Jeff Wyatt.
