Lower Rogue 4-23-21

Joan, MaryAnn, Peggy, Cindy, Jackie, Kay and Elisabeth enjoyed a six-mile RT hike on the Lower Rogue Trail in perfect weather and amidst the abundance of wildflowers. Watching and waving to rafters navigating the river creates a special sense of ‘river community.’

We enjoyed lunch on a rare little hillside with ‘sitting’ logs overlooking the river and cliffs beyond (a bit short of Whiskey Creek). Late March into mid-April is surely the best time of year to include the Lower Rogue Trail. For libations and healthy edibles, we stopped at Galice Resort to enjoy its opening day for the new season with live music on the deck over the river.

This was a wonderful day to initiate our return to the trails, vaccinated and following the prevailing guidance on COVID (practicing the ‘2 of 3 rule’ (outdoors + 6’ or mask).
