Lower Rogue - Grave Creek to Whisky Creek or Alder Creek 3-11-19

Photos by Barry H., Jerry and Rich

With a sunny day, promising to be warm, 20 members of the Motley Crew joined us for the trip to the Lower Rogue. We split the group in two with separate transportation. One did the 6.2 miles to Whiskey Creek and back, and the other did 8.8 miles to Alder Creek. We did the first part together and took a photo on the bridge over Whiskey Creek.

There was lots of water in the streams and we skirted the first waterfall on the low side. A couple of trees had been blown down but no problem for hiking. We started out at 34 degrees in the fog but eventually we were in shirts at 65. A perfect day for a hike.

My group of 7 continued to Alder Creek while Rich led the 13 who preferred the 6 mile hike. Lunch was long and pleasant at Alder Creek.

Lunch was also long, relaxing and warm at Whiskey Creek with enough chocolate for everyone. On the trail we provided a helping hand to anyone who wanted it crossing the seven rushing streams. Everyone was happy with this early Spring hike and Liz and company spotted three species of wildflowers!
