North Elk Creek Park 3-19-18

Photos by Bob and John

Seven hikers headed up Highway 62 for a long walk along Elk Creek. The early Spring morning was crisp but warmed nicely by lunch. Five miles down the trail we stopped for lunch. Two went down by the creek for lunch, while the rest of us sat on large stones by the trail.

After lunch we proceeded down to view the back of the old abandoned, incomplete dam. The notch in the dam allowed the creek to flow freely (when we visited the park last October one of us saw a three foot salmon swimming up stream). When we finished viewing the dam we went back up the trail and turned left onto a side trail that led us up to the main road and to our shuttle car.

All together we hiked nine miles and we ready to enjoy ice cream at Phil's Frosty. Another beautiful day of hiking.
