A baker's dozen showed up in the foggy, chilly Rite Aid parking lot for our last hike of 2019. The forecast promised a sunny day after morning fog but that didn't happen. However, the fog lifted and the temps in the mid-forties weren't too bad. We added another couple at the Homestead TH and were off for a brisk 8 mile walk through the scenic park.
We stopped after 5 miles and had lunch at noon where we had parked the shuttle car. Some sat at picnic tables and others on near square boulders.
After lunch we continued on down the paved road to a foot path running off to the left and eventually to the notched dam that was opened to allow Elk Creek to flow through. After exploring the old dam site and the surrounding area we headed back to the shuttle.
Most headed back to Ashland but five thirsty hikers stopped at Four Daughters Pub in Medford. Another good hike enjoyed by all.
