Porcupine Gap to Little Pilot Peak 7-27-15

The road to Porcupine Gap was rough at the very beginning but well-graded thereafter.  We did have to watch out for paint-scratching tree branches protruding into the roadway.

Last cool day before the current heat wave made for a very pleasant hike.  When we arrived at our turn around point at the site of the former Bean cabin, it was too early for lunch.  It was still deemed too early for lunch half a mile later at the Baldy Creek TH, so everyone opted to continue for a mile uphill to lunch with a view at Little Pilot Peak.

When we arrived at the Caldera Brewery for refreshments, there were only three pizza slices left and no Pilsener available, so we had to order a whole pizza and substitute Ashland Amber for the missing Pilsener. It turns out that pizza by the slice is a lunch special, and when they run out you're out of luck. Pilsener is so popular that they have run out of it too, and it's going to be several weeks before a new batch is ready. Somebody in Caldera management needs to take Marketing 101.
