Porcupine Gap to the Baldy Creek TH 9-19-14

As we hiked along the PCT east of Pilot Rock, we could see Mt Shasta wreathed in smoke.  In all other directions, the sky was clear.  We ate lunch in the shade of a multi-trunked Incense Cedar tree just past a spring in an open meadow close to the Baldy Creek trailhead.

There was a young couple camped right next to an access point to the PCT as we drove back down Pilot Rock Road.  We noticed, in passing, that the young lady was standing quite naked in the middle of the trail. Some concern was expressed regarding the driver's ability to simultaneously take in the view and stay on the road.  This fear proved unfounded, and the quartet in question reached the Caldera Brew Pub in a timely manner to satisfy their craving for beer.

By the way, both Pilot Rock Road and the spur to Porcupine Gap have had considerable maintenance work done and are, for the most part, quite drivable.
