PCT - Old 99 to Pilot Rock 6-12-19

Photos by Keeley and Liz

Eight of us headed to Pilot Rock to hike under clear skies, escaping expected temperatures in Ashland of 100 degrees.  We started early (8 AM) and were glad for the early start.  It was pleasant weather (high 60’s) to start.

There were flowers, which really intensified above 5,100 feet. There were 6 PCT hikers and several looked like they were just getting started.  We made it to the base of Pilot Rock by 10:30 AM and enjoyed a snack or light lunch.

After time to enjoy the views, we headed back to the cars, on our way to Caldera for refreshments and some more snacks.  By the time we reached the cars, it was 84 degrees.  It was a good hike and we were all glad for the cooler weather early in the day.
