Eight of us departed Rite Aid at 8:30 and picked up four more in Jacksonville for a perfect dozen. Other than being delayed by some road work on 99 in the morning and on HWY 5 in the afternoon we had a successful outing. It was a picture perfect day with temps in the 60’s. There was a considerable amount of downfall on the PCT but we managed to navigate it all easily. We were greeted with blue skies, lots of wildflowers and a brief view of Kettle Lake. Lunch was on the deck of the lookout with all of our legs dangling over the edge. Before heading down I treated the group to some Oaxacan chocolate that I got two weeks ago on our visit there. We hiked just over ten miles and 1300 feet of elevation.
