We started out the morning hiking with temperatures in the mid 60’s. It was a perfect day for a hike and the road to the trail head was in great shape, except for the last 1/4 mile.
We hiked through many wild flowers, including some still in bloom bear grass. The toughest part of the hike was the last hill climb before lunch where we climbed 500' in about a third of a mile to the top of Big Red Mountain for fantastic views in all directions from the lunch spot. Our hike back down Big Red was uneventful and we had refreshments outdoors by the creek at Louie’s.
