Little Pilot Peak 4-27-18

Photos by Darryl, Rich and Steve

With the forecast for inclement weather the fair weather hikers were nowhere to be seen. In addition, many were nursing their wounds from the Wednesday ascent of Black Butte. 4 solid hikers headed for the trailhead and decided to do Pilot Peak instead of Hobart Bluff.

We arrived to sunshine and were scrambling to find our sunscreen. We found some new flowers and the occasional bit of snow to cross. Overall the trail was good and lots of bulbs were breaking out of the ground. Unfortunately fog moved into the valley before we attained Little Pilot Rock so there wasn't much to look at.

We returned to Ashland and hit some rain at Caldera but it was sunny again when we left after lunch.

Flower lovers need to do Pilot Peak every few weeks in the spring to catch the new flowers as they emerge.
