Cook and Green Pass to Lilly Pad Lake 6-25-14

We enjoyed lush mountain lilacs for a mile or so on both sides of NF-1055 at the 4,000' to 5,000' level on our way to the TH. The upper section of the road has been recently graded, with the addition of one humongous water bar. However, the lower section has developed considerable wash-boarding since our last visit.

We had light sprinkles all morning as we worked our way up the PCT towards the Red Buttes through a profusion of wildflowers. Although Echo Lake had plenty of water, Lilly Pad Lake has now turned into Lilly Pad Meadow.

The temperature hovered around 60 oF all day. After lunch the sprinkles turned into a light mist which we had all the way back to the TH under scuttling clouds. Once in the car and on our way back down the skies opened up and delivered the forecast hard rain.

We enjoyed refreshments at Louie's. We sure do miss the Applegate Country Club.
