Union Peak 10-23-13

Beautiful fall day. Temperature upon arrival at the trailhead was 46o with lots of sun. Warmed up to about 60o in the afternoon. The trailhead parking area was closed due to water well drilling so we parked out on Highway 62.

There were still patches of snow on the trail, although none were troublesome. We made it to the summit in about 2 hours, just in time for lunch at a bit after noon. We saw signs posted regarding an ongoing fire on Union Peak; however, we didn't see the fire until we were well on our way back in Ft. Klamath, at which point we could see a fairly large area burning on the south side of the mountain.

We stopped at the Annie Falls picnic area for refreshment on the way back.
