Hidden Valley - Mt. Shasta 7-26-17

Six hikers started to trek part way up Mt. Shasta in great weather - low to mid 70’s.  This is one of the toughest hikes we undertake because of the vertical climb in a short distance, along with large rocks/steps to work around/over and much fine scree to ascend.

We saw several species of flowers, including blue penstemon, indian paint brush, buck wheat and lupin flowers. The lunch spot and half of the hike have incredible views of Mt. Shasta, Mt. Eddie, the Crags, the Marble Mountains and a small peak at Mt. Lassen.  The parking lot had some colorful folks enjoying the day, plus we saw several parties of 2 beginning their assault to the top of Mt. Shasta (very serious people).  The sun was intense and the air was generally clear, especially given the lightning storm we experience last night (no fires were visible).

We went to Bistro 107 in Mt. Shasta for refreshments.  Yes, we were all tired, but everyone had a good time.
