Ashland Hiking Home

Nine of us headed south to hike up South Gate Meadows to the spring, then back down the canyon and up to Grey Butte for lunch.  Finally we hiked down to Panther Meadows, up and over the ridge and back to the cars.  It was 70 degrees when we started and stayed around there for most of the hike, until we got back near the cars.  Panther Meadows, being lower, was warmer and it was 80 degrees when we retuned to the cars.

The sky was blue with no clouds anywhere.  The first part of the hike was in dry, desert like conditions.  But when we got to the springs, the meadow was amazing with green grass, flowers everywhere and nice creek flowing down the middle.  Every once in a while we would get a nice breeze and the forest part of the hike was cooler.  Overall, everyone had a good time.  I was wonderful for me to be out again after being gone for 4 weeks.
