On Wednesday July 26th. eight hikers drove down to hike Mount Eddy from the Parks Creek trailhead. We had beautiful blue sky and the wildflowers were in abundance. We saw Monk's Head, Tiger Lily, White Bog Orchids and lots of Columbine to name a few. The milk vetch were mostly past the bloom stage with the yellow flowers and had gone on to have the gold and red pods. The summit of Mount Eddy had some blooming Sky Pilots.
After reaching the top we took some photos. It was good to see more snow on Mt. Shasta than last year. We also had great views of the Castle Crags and could see Lassen Peak. We walked down to enjoy our lunch next to the stack of rocks that make a wind break. When we did our group photo, we decided to make it look like we did handstands (a little photoshop was applied and the photo may be too small to share here. I shared it on my Facebook page)
We returned the way we came up because there was some trail maintenance on the lower Deadfall Meadow trail making the hike just under 11 miles.
