Our 5th hike of October fell on Halloween, and some were eager to see the parade downtown, after two years absence due to COVID-19. So I scheduled Grizzly Peak, a short local hike, so we could get back to Ashland early.
The day was bright and calm as ten of us headed up the trail. Temperatures ranged from the 40s to 50s.
Heading up and on top there were patches of snow from a week past.
Two in the party decided to go off the side of the mountain, so you don't see them in the group picture. You might see their faces posted in your local Post Office.
The remaining eight had a leisurely early lunch on the flat rocks looking down on Ashland and the rest of the Rogue Valley. We, also, had a good view of Mt Shasta.
We had the mountain to ourselves through lunch, but began to encounter new hikers coming up as we were heading down.
The 5.5 mile loop was completed with about 1,000' of gain.
We were down off Grizzly by 12:30 and six of us stopped at the Rogue Valley Roasting Co. for refreshments; including our newest AHG member, Patricia , who has moved up from San Francisco.
Then it was on to the parade.
