Collings Mountain 12-27-17

As the four of us drove to the trailhead it was foggy and drizzling rain, but by the time we arrived at the trailhead, it was partially cloudy and warming up.

The hike, which is generally through the forest, has a few great views of the Applegate Reservoir.  It was interesting to see last weeks hike across the reservoir, putting our hike in perspective to the Applegate Valley.  There was a fire burned section of about 1/8th of a mile wide, which seemed to be of lightning origin and only burned a limited area.  Overall this was not a long or difficult hike, but it was great to be outdoors and enjoying each other’s company.  It was a good way to end the 2017 hiking schedule.

Refreshments were taken at Boomtown, which was out of fries and peanuts, but the beer was great.  HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!
