Cathedral Hills 12-17-21

We left Ashland hoping for decent weather and found it warmer than expected at the TH. The trails were in great shape due to crushed granite that was like cement, all the better because we saw a number of horses.and there was no mud. The forest contains lots of madrones, manzanitas and ponderosa pines.

Only a few of us had done the trails before and our hikers were surprised by the amount of ascent. We did the circle around the hills clockwise, hiking each loop along the way. After lunch on the trail I broke the rules and introduced some higher and steeper hills to climb.

Everyone loved the hike and we returned home by way of Highway 238 through the Applegate and stopped at Boomtown in Jacksonville.
