Aside from flowers, main point of interest on today's hike thru deep damp woods was the presence of very large old growth Douglas Firs and some relatively fresh bear scat.
Big surprise was the complete absence of water in the stream on the PCT where we had our lunch. In the past, the steam was flowing even in September. Presence of water earlier in the season was attested to by some hungry mosquitos. One particularly tough character dove right into the blob of 34% Deet repellant that Randy was preparing to put on his face. Talk about evolution in action!
