We had eight hikers who came out to hike up Bolt Mountain. It was a new hike for four of the members and the other four of us were veterans.
As we hiked up we were met by a bunch of Robins that were chirping and flying all around in the madrone trees. We also saw some wildflowers. Henderson's Shooting Stars and Grass Widow, Slender Toothwart (I believe) and a few others.
We had a few stops along the way to adjust out layers as the temperature was warm for an early March hike. We reached the top and saw a 360 degree view with Grants Pass and the Applegate River below. We enjoyed a casual lunch then headed back down.
We decided that if the rain came early, we would have another stop to put on our rain gear. With about a mile left, it started to sprinkle. We stopped to add our raincoats making sure we could stave off the rain. It worked because we barely had sprinkles.
