Lost Creek Lake - West Shore 4-4-22

Photos by Bob

We decided to do a replay of the first hike by Bob and Tracy years ago when we all emerged like drowned rats. This time, however, we were ready for it and dressed for a downpour.

The trail was beautiful, with lots of green. The Lake had continued to fill up despite letting out huge amounts of water. The rain was not hard but it was constant. We quickly hiked out about 2.5+ miles and reconsidered. The consensus was to beat a retreat before we turned into sponges. The ponchos were working but there comes a time when you get wet from the inside.

So, we decided to set a land speed record on the way back and motored at a very fast pace back to the car. With the incentive of reaching a dry place we rocketed along. So the hike was a success in that we were not like drowned rats but it was apparent that if we had added a few miles we might have resembled that description. We clocked about 5.5 miles while absorbing about 5.5 gallons.

The solution was to motor back to Kerr Manor for wine and cheese in a toasty environment. It worked.
