The promise of negligible uphill after lunch brought 17 hikers to the Viewpoint Mike hike, or perhaps it was the promise of Cadillac indoor plumbing at the Fish Hatchery. The trails were in good shape with very little mud, unusual for the winter.
We chose an excellent day with sweater weather most of the way. The Bryans had gone ahead and by the time we got to the Viewpoint they were calling us to look at them on the butte beyond the lunch place. After a group picture we headed through the woods to our usual spot and from there we could see Linda and Randy across the great divide on top of the butte. The views were stunning, with nary a ripple on Lost Creek Lake and some sun coming through in the distance. It rated another group pic. The conditions and views were such that we were in no hurry to leave.
The return trip was fast, being almost all downhill. At the end of the descent Jim Wayman suggested that he show us waterfall beside Crowfoot Road, less than a mile away. It was worth it and many pictures were taken. For some history on the Crowfoot Road click here.
We had organized for 1 car to take back those who wanted a quick return and ten of us went on to Cartwrights in Medford for some shopping and a quick beer. Goodies were bought and then back home after a great day.
