Lost Creek Lake North Shore 9-12-14

Only three people on the hike and smoke everywhere, so we decided to shorten our drive somewhat by going to Lost Creek Lake rather than Union Creek. We started at the Lewis Rd trailhead and walked past the Blue Grotto spur to a lunch spot in a meadow. Strangely enough, there seemed to be no smoke at ground level along the trail, so we had a pleasant nature hike.

Among other things, we encountered bear scat and a wasp nest hanging from an oak branch. Occasional early fall color was provided by poison oak. We came across a very interesting attempt to stabilize a shaky bridge using yellow plastic tape. We took our post-hike refreshments at the Rogue River Lodge.
