The Monday hiking luck came through again as a chance of rain became no rain at all at Lost Creek Lake.
When we arrived by the boat launch, the weather was calm with temperatures ranging from mid-40s to mid-50s.
This hike is another Fall Colors event, our third of the season, this time featuring yellow to golden Oakleafs.
The Rogue Trail had both Oregon White Oaks and California Black Oaks along our route to the finger of Lost Creek entering the Lake. The Big Leaf Oaks were on branches overhead and carpeting the path.
The Lake was also calm, with only a few ducks and one lone motorboat causing some ripples.
Fall colors reflected in the water and on the shore made for great pictures.
We did the five-mile out and back on the shoreline trail and were back in time for lunch at canopied picnic tables.
After lunch, we headed south through the parking lot to a paved trail over to the top of William Jess Dam. The 2 1/2 mile out and back was enjoyed by our group of twelve, with views of the Lake, the colors, the surrounding hills and peaks, the Dam's infrastructure, and the Rogue River flowing out below the dam.
It was another happy day on the trail.
