On Wednesday we had planned to hike Union Peak, but again our weather prediction was not looking in our favor so we headed south to Kangaroo and Bull Lakes. We had six of our group joined by Randy and Linda. This was the first time for Scott, Barb, Maria and Marilyn.  Leslie and I had done this hike before.

As we got there, we noticed that the campground was only a little over half full. We started out climbing up the trail and stopped to admire the flowers that were still blooming in the fen. From there, we continued to climb and then stopped at the Kangaroo Lake overlook.

Shortly before we connected with the PCT, we stopped at a rock formation and could see Lover's Leap, Mount McLoughin and Pilot Rock. We then went down to the PCT and saw more flowers and various small lakes. We also passed several thru hikers.

We came to the Bull Lake trail and had amazing views of Mount Shasta and Mount Eddy. We carefully made our way down to Bull Lake for our lunch. Linda wanted to go along to the other side of the lake so she and Randy separated from the group and he assured me they would have no issues on their own. We were joined by various PCT hikers who came down to cool off in the lake. Barb had brought chocolate and shared the extra with them. Maria gave them some grapes. They were happy to have fresh fruit.

We headed back to our cars and had hiked 8.28 miles and gained 1,611 feet of elevation. Maria, Barb and I walked down to the water's edge of Kangaroo Lake and saw a father and very young son who was on his first fishing trip and had caught a fish. We then walked back up and drove around the campground. We saw some good spots to camp.
