Duck Lakes 9-14-16

Photos by Dan, Denise and Keeley

We started the hike in low 60 degree weather under clear skies. The trail was a combination of old logging roads that had been retaken by the forest and single track paths.

When we arrived at the turnoff to Duck Lake, the group decided to continue up the hill to Little Duck Lake, which turned out to be one of the best lunch spots most of us have experienced (see the pictures). After a Maria style lunch (long), we headed back down to the turnoff and then on up to Duck Lake, which was bigger, but just a spectacular. After another break, admiring the scenery, we headed back down to the cars and off to Dotty’s for refreshments.

Although this was around a 10 mile hike and 2,400 feet elevation gain, the group decided this was a keeper for next year.
